Cities are deciding the future.
Urbanization is one of the leading global trends. In Norway 8 out of 10 live in cities and suburbs (4,4 million in 2019).
Over half of the world’s population currently resides in cities, and the urbanizing trend isn’t likely to slow down. By 2030, 60% of humanity will be city-dwellers.
Densely populated areas and cities creates huge sources of power demand. Cities consume two-thirds of the world’s energy and producing a similar proportion of global carbon emissions.
This places cities at the heart of the climate change discussion. The demand for modern city authorities, planners and utilities is huge. How can our electrical infrastructure be developed in a way that supports economic growth and high quality-of-life while also integrating more renewable energy sources than ever before, and radically reducing our cities’ impact on the environment?
